Hi, I have been told by a mechcanic that it is best if the WHOLE of my dash is replaced because my waning lights are being very silly. BUT, surelly that means that my LOW milage will be lost(59,000 for a 1985 t25 transporter) Would it not be possible JUST to attend to the electrics? Might I be taken "for a ride" (no pun intended !) if I let him get on with the job? Many thanks in advance for any advice. Tom.

if you do get a new dash pod whats stopping you transferring your old speedo over to it.its probably only the flexi circuit board that needs replacing anyway.by the sounds of it he doesn't know a lot about these vans.i would be looking for someone more knowledgeable...

sorry.no idea mate.you dont say if yours is petrol or diesel.as diesel circuit boards seem to be a lot harder to get hold of.it could be something as simple as the multi plug under the pod needs a twiddle.

Silly warning lights usually means connection problems.

1. The multi way connector that goes on to the back of the dash. (especially with spilt brake fluid) Clean the contacts and refit.

2. The earth crown above and behind the glove box on the left side. (especially with leaking screen) Clean and refit. Replace any duff connectors.

3. Battery to engine earths. Remove, clean up and replace.

4. Gearbox to chassis earth. Remove, clean up and replace.

5. Check the earth return paths for all sensors giving silly results. 0.0 ohms is OK, 0.2 ohms is not!
