I intend to build a portable shower enclosure which will also double as an enclosure for a porta loo.It will be sited inside a drive away type awning.My main concern is the waste water from the shower. Does anyone sell a shower tray with built in waste water collector? Cant see anything on the 'net.

I haven't seen anything on the `net` either, but I got around this problem by buying a kiddie's plastic pool (walls 8/12 inches high) and syphoning the waste water out. I used a 20 ft hose to get rid of the water a reasonable distance away from the shower.

I got a question. I was looking a portable shower. I got the power and the water bucket. Though no means of disposing of the waste water. I suppose from a green issue you have to dispose of the waste water down a drain & not let it seep into the land??

Ie you can't shower in the middle of now-where?

as long as you are not using any harmful chemicals to wash with, or bio soap, you shouldn't cause any harm to the environment by letting it soak in to the grass.

my questions would have to be, if you are putting an awning up surely you will be on a site with showers?

So does that rule out shower gel etc then? Ie not allowed for that to drain into the earth?

Well I am hoping to be stayed in campsites, so this shouldn't be an issue. However, if I was to camp up somewhere, then was thinking of showering!

I doubt whether we will be going on campsites as such. more like car shows (eg the pod) where toilets etc are usually very poor condition. Hence wanting our own set up.

How many different posts for the same subject do you want to start????? If you cant last a weekend without a shower I would sell up now and get a coach built!

but surely I can choose what whether I want to or not ? I didnt come onto this forum to be judged ,or judge others .

When I was a kid we used to go camping for holidays. My dad was sick and tired of paying 20p a go for us all to have a shower so he built his own...

... enclosure was a tall single toilet tent... and the shower was a pressurised tank "powered" by a CO2 cannister! The tank was shiny metal so filling it in the morning and leaving it in the car all day heated it up - and if it wasn't sunny a kettle of boiling water went in it! All the waste was caught in a oversized cat litter tray (and disposed of in the correct manner - which back then was in a bush!)

An option for your waste issue now could be a tray and a pump, to pump it into a vessel suitable for transporting it to a means of disposal?

I hate not getting a shower i now have a shower in my van but i used a soler shower in a toilet tent when off site in my old van and just let the water drain into grass i got a wooden rack to stand on from jk it worked ok for a quick wash . personaly i would not go all weekend without a shower i have been camping in vw campers for the last 10 years and i have always showered daily
