Hi,

Mine is caput! It has been for some while as when i stripped it down the motor had collapsed.

Are these needed? Other diesel engines do not have them. Anyone else running without one?

I guess it is a benefit if it was working due to oil temps.

vw put them on the TD in our van for a reason, syncros got a cooling fan for the turbo too, they are there mostly for when you switch off a hot engine after a run
