Hi guys just been road testing the new install she's seems to run fine up to 60mph but after that is stuck on 3000 rpm and starts to give out black smoke have Baxter rover pin installed and brand new turbo which is working ok. Boost is only .5 bar tho could it be the blowout valve? As running it with the jx intake manifold? And how do I block it? Have also played around with the levers in case it was that and checked the Acc cable and all ok. Running a new gearbox with 15's on a syncro which is the right ratio for the aaz thanks in advance

Will it go above 3000 rpm in neutral? ?????? Does it have an egr valve, (exhaust gas recirculation, basically burns exhaust twice to cut emissions) if so you can blank that off for a few extra bhp, as for blow off valve do you mean dump valve?? If thats blowing I would look at that mainly?

Will go higher in neutral just in 4th the problem no egr but can hear air whooshing out somewhere

MMMMmmmmmm check all pipes really well, any chance of a spare dump valve to try ?

Think i found it seems to be leaking from the inlet manifold as there is a drizzle of some fluid there must be diesel coming out. Oh well these things are sent to try us might aswell fitt the chargecooler while I'm in there

Good idea will help the engine and give more power!!!

What gear box have you got on it? is it a petrol one? Or have you had longer final gears fitted?

The inlet manifold is on the opposite side of the head from the injectors and carries only air. .5 bar = 7psi which I think is stock. Air leaking under boost could be the blowoff valve, many people seal them closed. If you've worked on the pump and got it wrong this could limit your revs. Prob best to get it running right, then fit chargecooler. I recommend a look at vwdiesel.net.

just re-read your first post, it could just be loss of boost, which would result in loss of power and black smoke due to running 'rich'. This is assuming the pump is ok and you get full revs in other gears.

I only ask because my AAZ at 3000rpm isnt doing 60mph. Mine revs at 3800rpm ish at 60mph, at 3000rpm mine is only doing about 50mph. One of our rev counters isnt working properly at a guess.

Or your wheels are out of gauge ??

Both paul and I have the same wheels, gear box and engine combo.

different alternator/belt/pulley setup ? to account for the difference maybe

Checked on memory map whilst going along 3000 bang on 100 km = 62 mph have jx alt with long v belt set up double pulley on crank and single pulley on water pump and alt if that makes sense idles at 800 rpm if that's any help jed
