Help, my beloved T25 keeps cutting out

Hi, I'm the proud owner of 'Alanos' a 1984 T25 camper, water cooled, 1900cc petrol. I've done thousands of miles in this beauty in the last five years, but just before Xmas it cut out on me. The AA man thought it was the fuel pump and I got my garage to fit a new one, and they also cleaned out the fuel tank, added new breathers, pipes etc. It ran sweetly for a day and then cut out again. The garage then fitted a new ignition module, cleaned out the carb, and added an in-line fuel filter. It ran sweetly for about 2 miles and then cut out again. When it cut's out the exhaust back-fires and it looses power and stutters to a halt, only to start up again a few minutes later before cutting out again usually within a couple of miles. I'm now desperate to get my camper back on the road, so any suggestions would be most welcome !!???

Sounds pretty quick when it happens. Wouldn't have thought it was fuel to be happening that quick.
I would be looking at the electrical side, possibly ignition key related or low voltage connections to coil.
When it cuts out do you still have the ignition lights etc. come on on the dashboard or don't you see these until you turn off and try to start again?
Possibly coil related also. Could be getting warm and shorting internally. You need to see if you have a spark at the HT side of the coil when it won't start.

Have you fitted a new rotor arm? If not, get one and fit it.. (£3 part)
Sounds very familier to something I diagnosed a couple of years ago..

Thanks for your comments guys, I'll follow up those leads ... the ignition lights do go out when it stalls, and come back on when I try to restart it.
