Just recently picked up our first campervan and very excited about it. Been going through the workings of the interior and I'm trying to decipher how things work using the pictureless manuels that come with it. The van is an autohomes karisma conversion (1983) T25. Can anyone help with these questions please?

1. I'm pretty sure my leisure battery is dead. I get no light (red or green) on my Zig Unit when I switch to Onsite. Will a dead battery charge when I'm driving? How will I know that it is charging? We went for a hour long drive today and this made no difference to the Zig lights when I tested it afterwards.
If I had to buy a new one can anyone recommend any as looking online, most batteries seem quite large for the space behind the passenger. The previous owner had a Halfords 12V battery (CB065). I'm not sure if this is a leisure battery or a car battery and was suitable in the first place!

2. I've tested the electrics using my main battery to see what's working. I don't seem to get any noise from my water pump. Is this to be expected as does it only work when there is water in the tank?

right it matters not whether it's a leisure or a starter, what matters is if it's any good.
Take it off and use a battery charger to see if it charges up

if it's dead a UK code 096 starter will fit in the box, cheap as chips, and it's biggerer and better than the 065 that you have

water pump should work what ever is in the tank (air or water) might be a fuse

THe CF8 has a single rocker switch to switch the supply for your leisure equipment 'on' or 'off'. The Led's will illuminate in the 'on' position (colour depends on state of charge) irrespective of whether you are connected to EHU or not. No LEDs with this switch 'On' usually means that either the battery is dead, not connected or the main fuse situated close to the leisure battery needs replacing. These LED's will also function if you set the Touring - On Site switch to 'Touring', in which case you are recieving 12V from the Starter battery and everything should work. This is the normal CF8 wiring/function for Autohomes.

All appliances and fittings are sourced from the fuses on the ZIg panel and you may need to check these if items fail to function. The water pumps can seize if its been left dry....switching it on with no water can damage it instantly.

Thanks for the advice. I need to buy a hook-up adaptor today as my cable can't be connected to a normal three pin socket at the moment.

Will have another look at the water pumps with water in the tank.
