I am ripping my hair out now with the power inverter problems we are having, hopefully someone can help me please?
inverter is a ROYAL 600w i bought last year and only used a few times.when connected to the battery it will light up and makes a high pitched squeal(alarm) this indicates the battery is low or is overloaded.it CANT be because nothing is plugged in and the battery is fully charged.I have checked both fuses and they are fine.
I hope someone out there has an idea whats wrong with it??!! please. Ben

Having ruled out the obvious it sounds like the inverter itself is knackered. Have you tried it in another vehicle?

yep,i have tried it on 3 batteries Martin.
Mark i have looked all over for a reset button but there don't appear to be one and i have had the engine running but still squeals like mad and don't work.my bloody luck!this is the 2nd one i've had from lightning leisure that's packed up on me.i'm gonna find him at bustypes and insert it in him!lol
on a lighter note i nipped down to argos half an hour ago and bought a black and decker 400w inverter with a 2 year guarantee for £13.99 !!! less than half price/from a proper shop/2yr guarantee. it works a treat too.
cheers for the help guys.Ben

Well since you're on the verge of chucking it in the bin you might as well take it apart and see if there's an internal reset gizmo.....

Try running it under the tap.
Incidentally thanks for the tip. Picking up an inverter is one of the things on my to do list for this weekend. I thought I was going to have to resort to Halfrauds. Never even thought of Argos.

Thanks Bren for drawing on your years of electrical experience and for such a clear and concise answer for the common lay man to understand!

Sorry Ben but unless there is something obvious like a detached wire, burnt out pcb track or smoldering chip you're into the realms of investigation at componant level which requires specialist knowledge and equipment.......any internal fuses you can check?
