window seals - black streaks...

My window seals are starting to degrade a bit I guess and when you wash the van you get black streaks coming off the rubber... short of actually replacing them, is there anything that can be rubbed into the rubber to seal it?

You sure they are not just dirty? Try cleaning them with a rubber restorer like Autoglym's bumper care (I think it's called?) or similar and you'll probably be amazed how much dirt is on them.

could try this, http://www.captaintolley.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

people have said it makes seals ''like new''.

If you do let us all know how you got on. :ok

Agree on above but give rubbers a good going over with a scotchbrite (green scourer) in lots of soapy water first. That removes all the accumulated grime and smooths out the surface of the rubber. The problem tends to be much worse on white or light-coloured vans.

I used creeping crack cure on mine and then painted them with tyre paint - looks loverly now.

do you not wax your van after washing? :roll:
try Mer, it will seal the rubber and stop water washing the carbon out

or as suggested tyre paint ...
Autoglym do a sidewall renovator that will seal it too

The same happens from my front grille. Presumably the above suggestions will cure this too ?
