I am thinking of laying a new floor in my van.
Currently in my westy I have a lino which is pretty crap and looking tired.
What is it best to replace it with? ie carpet, lino or vinyl tiles.
Will I have to remove the furniture? like the kitchen unit and rock n roll bed.

I'd go for lino or laminate flooring, easy to clean. Westy units fit around the floor panel so no need to remove anything, just cut to fit.

What thickness should i use?

I used 12mm ply topped with click&fit laminate - no glue required.

I have the original floor so wouldn't of thought i would need new ply. Hoping all i have to do then is rip the old one up, decide what to lay and lay the new one down.

Use a glue system. I been laying wood floors for 13 years. Clips systems are more likely to break open.

Give me about an hour and I'll get some up.

Here's one to start with

I just did mine using a lino offcut from a small carpet stall in the market near me. Its the classic black and white check its about 3mm thick and cost me £30 and I have a bit left over to cover the rear cargo area too !

I used madmatz tiles - easy to lay and a great selection of colours. Comes with easy to follow instructions, too. If you have units out it'll be a pretty quick job. Units in (as I did) and it'll take you most of the day to cut around and alter !

I just did mine with click and fit laminate flooring from Focus, one pack was just enough as the edges on the far side are covered with the cabinets and the seat, so the slight shortfall doesn't show. Means no fiddly cutting as well.
I used the silver foil over bubble wrap type insulation underneath it, seems to be just about right thickness wise.

I bought Homebase value-range self adhesive parquet flooring tiles, looks great (I think ) and was cheap to do at about £10 ... only problem was they've shrunk slightly during the cold weather ... come on the summer!
