What's best way to get Drinking water via onboard water tank

I got a water tank underneath my T25. Normally when go camping I take separate drinking water with me.
However in a effort to save carrying extra stuff, I would like to make my onboard tanks to be ok for drinkable water supply.
On another thread I listed someone mentioned a pure water filter. Would this just fit to my existing system and filter out the nastys for drinking water?

Purify the onboard drinking water tank and pump it through the system once a year and it'll be fine ... do it twice if it makes you feel more confident.
TBH we tend not to drink much cold water though ... if we do it's LeClerc bottled spring water from the fridge.

OK, being a but naive here. How do purify the system? I only ever used it for washing up etc in the past.
I'll most probably get through a bit of drinking water, as will do a bit of mountain biking whilst away.

Just fill it to the brim and use some Miltons sterilizing fluid or tablets...some use the stuff the landlord uses to clean his pipes and leave it in there a few hours. Just drain, refill, drain until flushed through.

Why on earth would you not drink the water from the tank? If you use ad hoc water sources such as mountain streams etc fit a Nature Pure filter. (as I do and use) - not cheap but you can use muddy water from a ditch and it is safe for drinking. When I am in Scotland it turns the thick brown soup/water into something safer than you get from the tap at home.
Never had the need to purify a tank yet - just use it regularly.

There's a special thing from c***van shops ... Purikleen or something similar that people recommend. I've used milton tablets before but apparently the other stuff's the bestest.
Ian.

From a plumbing point of view Milton may not be the best thing to use. Its a very powerfull sanitiser and very likly to eat many types of rubber and plastic.

OK thanks for the answers. I suppose no real reason why not to use the tank. Sometimes my camper hasn't seen regular use I was a bit 50/50 in using the tank that's all.
Though for total safeness I am looking at a filter. Towsure do a 3M one for £60, not sure if that is any good?
Also anybody know the Holdsworth water tank capacity at all?
