dealing with minor rust

Hi All

Our van has a bit of rust, as to be expected in a vehicle over 20 years old I guess and nothing too major. When we bought it last year there were a few bits that had been patched up a bit along the seams and it's starting to come through a bit. Also, there are some bubbles of paint starting to rust in some awkward places, for example the flat bit of metal at the front that the bumper is fixed to, the ridge around the top above the windscreen and where the awning is, and the back at the top of the boot door.

My main concern is to try and stop it getting too much worse. However, we're totally inexperienced in looking after the van, and would be up for doing a bit ourselves but guess it could take a while and we may not do the best job! I'd like to find a garage that can do something to patch up the bodywork and was wondering if anyone has any recomendations for anywhere in south London. We've used Volkspares for a couple of engine issues but they don't do bodywork.

Many thanks
Jane.

Thanks for the advice. Vactan. Good tip. I'll certainly look into that.

Also, someone has recomended Queenstown Coachworks - based in Battersea. Has anyone used them? They have some good reviews on the internet.

Just to let everyone know that I managed to get the rust sorted at Queenstown Coachworks in Battersea. They were recomended by Volks Spares in Sydenham who we've used for our service and MOT. Then we had a bit of an accident in a waitrose car park and needed a dent sorting through the insurance. We went to Queenstown and thought we may as well get the minor rust done at the same time. He warned me the colour may not match but it looks perfect to me. Most of the dodgy stuff on the seams has now been sorted and also the front bumper area. I'm no expert, but it looks like he's done a great job to me.
