Hi there.
I was wondering if anyone could help?
I had a problem with the ignigition wiring on my 1989 t25 leisure drive about 2 months ago.
The guys at my garage fixed the problem but attaching another cable from my alternator to my ignition switch
we have come away to toms field in Dorset this weekend to find our power socket in the van works fine but everything else is dead on the zig unit. That is, until we start the engine and all the light and the green light of the zig unit comes back on again. We have had a brand new battery fitted and checked the zig unit fuses but nothing seems to work. The power sockets in the van are getting juice but not the unit
we put the van onto "car" to charge it on the way down but this doesn't seem to have worked.

Any help would be very much appreciated
also, our radio seems to run off of the maim battery. Is there any way we can get a switch j stalled so that it runs off the mains when we plug in.

This all sounds a bit confusing so first things first:

Do you have a leisure battery as well as a starter battery?
When you say "power sockets" do you mean the 240v mains sockets for when you're on hook up?
How did the system work before the garage 'repaired' it?

Assuming that you are loosing the 12V supply to the leisure equipment then I would check the following first:-

1. The leisure battery is connected.

2. You should also have a fuse holder with fuse from the positive terminal of the leisure battery and you will need to check that. This fuse should be in the battery compartment that houses the leisure battery (normally behind passenger seat) but worth checking the compartment that houses the starter battery.

3. If you have a Zig CF1 then check that the switch marked 'On site - Touring' is set to 'on Site'.


Not all conversions were fitted with a leisure battery and the wiring is slightly different. If yours does not have a leisure battery then it sounds like the 12V feed to the zig unit has not been re-connected. If you only get a supply when the ignition is switched on it is possible that you have a split charge relay fitted and that its is sourcing the leisure equpment when it is engaging. However, if your Zig is wired in a conventional way then you must have the Zig switch set to 'Touring' for anything to work off the starter battery. Sounds like they have disturbed a wire or forgotten to connect something ........
