a few things...

Hello, I've just bought a T25 off ebay, drove it back from leeds to London and it runs really well.

But there a few things that I'm not sure of -

1. Gear Changes - some times nice and smooth, sometimes won't go into gear - have to put it neutral then put foot on clutch and try again. Normally works...but is that normal?

2. Leaks a tiny bit of oil at the back? After parking it overnight, I've notiched it's leaked a tiny bit of oil. I did mentioned it the guy I bought it off, and he said all of them do that ??

3. when I go over bumps on the road (drains etc...nothing huge) there is a loudish noise from underneath...sort of like there is a load of lose metal pipes stuck to the bottom of the floor...??

Other than those 3 things, I'm happy as larry with the Van.

I got it for 2k, what do you think

Cheers guys.

Doesn't look too bad...... :D

Gear changes will never be anything like a new car, but shouldn't be impossible to get - look at linkages maybe? G-box oil? I found with 2 of our vans that to go into 2nd you had to feign like you were going for first then change direction last minute......just a quirk.......

When he said "all of them do that" he was pretty much right, but it could be a simple fix, as is possibly the case with most......

As for the klunk - no idea - how fast are you going over them? Have you got a spoiler? Is your exhaust still attached to the van?

Is it just all part of the charactor (spelling) the clunk could be the shocks bottoming out the gearbox thing could be age as long as it doesnt make any strange noises then you will get used to it, it aint a modern vehicle

Thanks for your replies guys!

There is one more thing that I forgot to say - on the way back down from Leeds I filled up the tank at a petrol station ,only to find loads of it poring out at the top end of the neck ( I imagine the tank has some sort of tube going up to the side of the van, where I put the petrol in on the otherside - neck  ). I didn't loose to much petrol, probs around a coke can full, so it not the end of the world...

Any one know how many litres it takes to fill a whole tank?...

Will I need to replace the whole tank, or is it just a case of getting a new tube/neck ?

Thanks.

??????

Do you mean that when you filled it to the brim it started pouring out kinda behind the wheel at the side? If so then this is probably the breather tank hoses, and it's dead common for them to become unattached - pain in the backside to get the tank in place and get everything attached properly.

The simple cure is not to fill the tank to the top.........obviously the sensible thing to do is get them re-attached.......

Can't remember the fuel tank capacity for a 2wd at the moment - sorry.....

yeah thats it...apart it coming out right behing where I actually put the petrol in... reckon it could still be the same thing? I read somewherre it is quite common for them to rust....just trying now to find out where I read it

Not all engines leak oil! Depends how bad it is and where it comes from as to how serious/much hassle+expense it is to fix.
Tank takes 50 litres and there are some seals/pipes which are notorious for failing when they are filled up - again a bit of hassle but fixable.
