heads will fit and it will run.. DF cam is different to DG cam, but you dont really want to be splitting the case to change it as that gets you into a whole new set of issues..
Whats wrong with the DF heads? as they rarely suffer any cracking etc.. I doubt DG heads give you any more power (poss lose a little torque due to lower velocity in the head) without changing the carb and inlet manifold and especially the cam..

thanks mate, i bought a df engine, crankcase and heads seperate, had 2 good dg heads knockin about so thought id fit em, prob not thought it thru as i woz under the impresssion that the cam would be the same, got the engine running but not sure il get the timing rite as one of the timing settings is about 5degrees before and the other is about 5degrees after, cant remember which way round tho, shud i set it up to the df timing as its got the df cam? ?
if i cant get it running right, all my efforts wasted!

"U" shape on pully is TDC, "V" on pulley is normally 5 deg BTDC.. (to right of "U")
DF cam is different as far as I am aware.. (will check part numbers)
Single or double vac advance unit on dizzy? Vac unit working correctly?
Either set up as per DF procedure, or set to 5-7 deg BTDC with vac hoses dissconected and blocked..Idle stabilisation unit (if fitted) dissconnected and plugs together..

tapping is most likely the hydro tappets not bled down yet.. needs a good run up the road and 15w40 or 20w50 oil..
