Can anyone identify this carb?

Afternoon, all. Just had some bad news: Van failed it's MOT on emissions, so I got a reputable bloke out to have a look and see if he could get it up to scratch. Long story short, he tells me I need a new carb, and charged me £65. (I also need a new alternator, so it has turned out to be a very sh*tty weekend).
So, can anyone identify what carb I have from the photos below? The only thing I know is that it's a weber. Thanks in advance!

What engine is it? and what did it fail emissions on? HC's, CO? Could be something simple....

It's got a 1.8 8v golf gti engine in it. I have blanked off the injector holes (araldite and pennies, although this will need revisiting) and it failed on the Hydrocarbons but I haven't got the printout from the MOT station... CO2 was good, but the hydrocarbons were 2800 or so. The carb was severely overfuelling, but the fella who came out fettled that but as he stripped the carb (held together with loads of silicone sealant) it became apparent that it was goosed. Floats were really loose and sloppy due to bad ovalling of the holes which hold the rocker pin thingy, and it was sucking air from a variety of sources. I trust the bloke who came round - he's been doing this since 1972, and he advised me to get a new carb.
Just been poking around the net and I suspect it may be a Weber DMTL 32/34 Carburettor for the VW Golf. Thanks for the reply.

One for the main reasons Hc's could be that high is an air leak, which to me sounds like you have got.....Like I said before check and do the simple things first..

You're right about the simple things...

Trouble is, I was planning to go to the Volksworld show at the end of this month, so time is at a premium and I need to be able to trust the thing to get me down from Blackburn and back. Plus, I've no interior in it at all, yet and the clock is ticking! A new carb (while expensive) is going to be a quicker fix, sadly.

(<--- only because there is no 'sobbing my heart out' emoticon...)

But will a new or replacement carb fix it...I would still have a good look for air leaks, check vac pipes and the like. Can see from the pictures that the carb base gasket looks shot, blue sealer round it..start there

Will do... I was planning to buy a full kit an a ream of gasket paper and do the job right, but I've yet to find anything standard on my van! I quite like the way the blue sealant complements the orange sealant used further up the carb, though... I'll be sorry to see it go!
Thanks for taking the time to reply, too... I'm sure you should be doing something better on a Saturday night, but I'm glad you aren't!
