I'm sure that this question cropped up only 3-4 weks ago & I seem to recall that the answer is 'NO!'
Car tyres are for cars & van tyres with their stronger sidewalls/load rating are for vans. What happens if you have an accident & your van is fitted
with incorrectly rated tyres? No payout from your insurance company! :!:

No Ralph, don't put car tyres on your van, unless they are correctly weight rated for your commercial vehicle.

load rating needs to be a minimum of 93, plenty of car tyres are above this you just need to check.

Theres a guy on ebay who sells 195/65 Durun tyres (set of 4) for £99. Fitted on 15" steel merc wheels these are very good tyres. Got them on my van. Excellent grip and wear characteristics. Mind you, I've not yet tried to squeeze a 15" wheel and tyre underneath at the front but presumably with some adaptation (ie a standaoff for the hinge), one would fit?

Has anyone managed to fit a 15" tyre under there?

Yes, lots... just depends on width and height of tyre, but most will fit OK

speaking from experience a 205 width tyre will not fit in there on a 14" rim. There was apparently some option for a larger spare tyre carrier but it is Very rare. And no, car tyres bad.
