What with the sun shining and all, I've been thinking about what music festivals I want to attend in the summer. Cornbury (http://www.cornburyfestival.com/index.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) was a contender until I saw the prices for camping - £20 just to camp plus an additional £40 to take the camper, and it's only a two-day festival! I've sent them an email asking exactly what this £60 pays for but am not holding my breath for a sensible response, thieving feckers.

We went to Cornbury last year, initially put off by the stupid price but then I won a pair of tickets
They still made me pay for a pass for the van though, and you're right, you don't get much for the camping fee.
Very good festival though, well organised and good facilities, but quite a hike from the camper van field to the main arena

I do think the extra money for camper vans is a rip off. If you take your van then you take up less room than if you have a car and a tent. Plus you are less likely to use their toilets and more likely to have your own porta loo. I've had to pay £60 extra for taking my van to Wychwood this year.

now I know I'm a tight-"interfered with" old git, but that really is taking the pi$$. You could buy a tent and several beers for that. Do they just suppose that anyone who owns a camper must be minted?

You could try Nozstock in Bromyard or Farmer Phils Festival in Rattlinghope both great festivals and a lot better value.

I have been thinking the same thing - price can only be rationalised by organisers if they have large extra costs eg chemical disposal tanks, stewarding etc. I know Glastonbury justifies some of it on enrionmental grounds - ie you should all arrive by coach or walk - if you bring a car/ camper you are destroying the ozone layer etc etc. Life surely is too short..Anyway I am of to Glastonbury again, Latitude ( first time ) Big Chill ( excellent fest but worried it may not be on this year ) and Beautiful Days. I was thinking about Cornbury - just the line up and quick turn around after Glastonbury put me off. This sunshine does make you think of getting out there as often as possible tho...

I'm definitely doing Glasto again this year. I wouldn't miss it for the world but it does annoy me having to pay an extra £75 to take the van, especially since I'm on my own so can't share the cost with anyone. Not sure what other festies I'll make this year though. It all depends on money I'm afraid, and that's in short supply.

I prefer to festival abroad these days. The british ones are all overpriced and full of braying idiots.

It seems to be taking ages for any line-up confimation or ticket info - I keep checking the web site but no news yet - leaving it very late imho to get festival punters cash in these strapped times when lots of other good fests around !
