Quantum from VW or GSF is good - or any other good but basic 15/40ish mineral oil is fine.

When I bought my 2.0l air-cooled T25 six weeks ago the first thing I did was to do an oil change & I used Morris's 30s oil. SAE30 is the recommended oil for all Aircooled VWs. Back in the 70s I always used
Castrol SAE 30 oil in my Beetles but I don't know if they still make that
particular oil. :D

Here we go!! Straight 30 was the recommended oil for all a/c but lube technology has moved on - do a search for oil choice on virtually any VW forum and read all about it! Then make your decision... I use ordinary basic-but-good 15/40.
Morris 30 is not easy to get hold of anyway - especially if you live out in the sticks, away from GSF or similar.

Yes oil technology has moved on over the last 30 years but air-cooled engines haven't! They were designed to run on on SAE 30 oil & SAE 20 oil in winter below a certain temperature.
The VW air-cooled engine is still basically a 1933 design with oil seals made to cope with thicker monograde oils not the thinner multigrade oils.
Anyway it's down to personal preference in the end.
