Just planning the first trip abroad with the van. We planning on going down to the Dordogne and over to the coast Bordeaux way, if anyone have any recommendations for campsite around there... or on the way (as we'll probably break the journey down up a little) - it would be good to hear
Cheers

Camping Le Château de Chanteloup Le Mans

Beautiful site in the grounds of a Chateau. Lovely classy little bar, restaurant. Nice out door swimming pool. No minimum night stay. Your free to camp where ever you want unlike the poxy regimented Camping and Caravan club sites.
We stopped over for just one night as we had a long way to go but i would definately go back for longer.

We found this Camper Stop book invaluable:

or just France:

Absolutely brilliant when used in conjunction with your Sat Nav (Euro maps) as it contains all the co-ordinates and descriptions of facilities, locations and pictures.
These Aires sites are very cheap...Camper Only! and range from FREE to about 8 Euro's

Hi,
We travelled from Calais down to Limoges on our first day....decided to do a long drive but used the A20 I think it is that doesn't charge. We stayed at a municipal called Camping D'uzurat just off the A20 and near a huge L'eclerc and the cheapest diesel we found.
We then drove via d roads to Sarlat and stayed at a place just outside called Beynac...the site was called Le Capeyrou.
After this we headed for the coast and it is quite a journey. We were heading towards Cap Breton/Hossegor. Half way we stayed at a place called Aguillon.....little municipal site cost £7 euro...right by the River Lot, was great.
After we then went to the coast and slowly made our way up the coast North to La Rochelle stopping here and there.
I bought the 'Le guide oficiel camping de France'...or a similar title. Is mostly in French but has virtually every site in it so is really good for when you haven't booked and are happy just to drive along and stop wherever you fancy.
