My first camping trip

Hi all,
Not sure if this really belongs in camping or technical, but as it started out as camping here it is..
My story starts Thursday 18/02/10, the day before my trip was to begin. I was expecting my recovered rock and roll bed to be delivered to work, so I decided to take the van into work. The reupholstered bed was delivered as promised and I loaded it into the van and set off after work eager to get it into the van ready for tomorrow, when chug chug kaputt. Phoned the AA and the very nice man finally turned up. The AA told me I had run out of petrol
( I was sure it was reading 1/4 full
) After filling with £10. He finally got it going, but said it needed a good service HT leads etc etc. I explained I had only purchased the van in December and a service was booked for Tuesday after my trip ( not sure he was convinced
) I finally got home and fitted the bed by about 9pm.
We set off the following morning bound for the New Forrest. We arrived at a campsite in Sway near to the railway station and set up on our pitch surrounded by enormous motorhomes, Sat TV air con the works
, however they all seemed very interested in our little bright green van
. I had noticed a very strong smell of petrol from the rear of the van which started to get me a little worried. But we settled in and had a good first night (thank god for a working eber as it was bloody freezing outside).
The next day we decided to use the train to get into Poole, as I was still a bit concerned about the petrol smell from the van. On the way to the station I saw a line of T25s behind a fence so decided to have a closer look. To my amazement there was a specialist VW garage tucked away behind the station. After a few words with the owner I popped back to the campsite and dropped the van off at the garage, then continued on for a fun filled day out in Poole. On my return the job was completed, and the petrol smell was all down to a newly fitted choke not being adjusted properly.
However the so called refurbished carbs I was told were in the van when purchased were in fact knackered
but that's another story.
So my point is if you fancy a camping trip in the New Forrest while having a bit of work done on your van then KFK volkswagen in Sway are your people.
