First day offroading in Salisbury - Thrown CV

Had our first day offroading in the syncro today, managed to get a S/H VC fitted yesterday so its the first chance we've had to give it a go.
Went with 2 brothers in Landies, we were quite impressed how it matched up to them, never any doubt really!
Day did get cut short however when we threw the CV joint on the front.

Will have to get this sorted pretty quick!!
Any advice??

I think we drove through the Clay Pit last summer on our Tour de Salisbury Plain.

And whilst your at it, check all your other cv boots for splits etc. It was probably driving through the mucky wet stuff with a split boot that caused that front one to give out.

There looks like there is very little grease on the shagged one and for it just to give up like that from nowhere is some kind of confirmation. I am guessing it went when you put full lock on. Greasing the cv joints and putting new boots on has got to be one of the most messy but satisfying jobs you can do on your van isnt it. Oh and see if the spacers are on the front inners too along with the longer bolts and washers

Got a new outer CV and fitted it today, more to it than first thought.

I would agree quite a satisfying job, when you get to the end of it anyway!!
Runs really well, nice and smooth to

North of Salisbury near Tilshead I believe, My brothers were leading.
In the pictures we were at the claypit near the German Village
I'll see if I can get better directions.
Just checked with my Brother, out of Salisbury on the A360 head to Shrewton.
Then towards Tilshead take the first Green Lane on the left.
That will take you to the German Village, follow on round the village and youll come to the claypit.
The missus says check your CV boots...........ENJOY

Looks fun. With the westy I am always a little worried of damaging the gas tank underneath? I was wondering if it is worth making some sort of protection for it?
