They kept up their momentum so water leakage should have been minimal - isn't it great seeing syncro's out there in the type of environment they're meant to be in - inspiring stuff!

U dont need upward exhausts to submerge an engine in water just a good snorkle.(that applies to diesles)As no t25's were factory diesles in SA
u will most likley find 2.4 td oyota engines in them as the 2L 2.2L and the 2.4L td oyota are a very common conversion( can buy a well cast bellhousing and crossmember of the shelf for about £140 ) and they are very good engines.
Had my diesle syncro engine prity much submerged for 10min + at cony waiting to be recovered.As long as u keep it runing the exhaust gases keep the water out.Dont switch off.And if the engine dies dont restart before taking apropriate action.
