Lowering by changing tyres.

I bought a job-lot of stuff recently, in this pile there are two wheels fitted with excellent 185/60R14 low profile tyres.

My question is, has anyone lowered their van by simply fitting low profile tyres?

When standing side by side with my original wheels there is a height difference of 60mm...no-load on both wheels, so obviously with a load on the height difference will remain the same.

On the other hand I could sell the low profilers!

I had a pair on the front last year, drove well and looked ok, only prob was load rating etc. I was in a car park and kerbed it on a stone and tore a hole in it, .

This won't lower your van in the true sense of the word, all this will do is make the van lower to the ground which isn't really what it's about.
Also if you fit the wheels on the front then the speedo will be miles out and if you fit them on the rear the van will be revving it's b0llox because the circumference is way off, plus it will look "pooh" due to the fact you'll be able to crawl in the gap between the tyres and the arche's..............

All this is just my humble personal opinion of course and you know what they say about opinions.

with a loaded camper you really need to be using 'van' tyres-ie 185x14C -8 ply
