Hi there

I need to replace the printed circuit board on my 1989 T25 (DG K chassis). My van has a rev counter.

My mechanic has not been able to locate a new replacement and has given me the part number (251919059K) to have a go at finding one. I have come across a posting from another member, and through that posting I ended up on this page http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/vw/T2/1991/78/57/892064/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , which confused me - this part has the same number, but it's for a 1991 van.

Does anyone know if this part will work on my van? Or where I can get one that will?

I like the hard wiring idea I still have a spare dash printed circuit board, but there are two types one with a horizontal plug and one with a vertical plug, you would need to get the right type. what exactly is wrong with your existing one? are you sure it is no good? my existing one looks burnt out but still works fine.

this post has made me think this might be a problem with mine.... would it cause crazy indicator functions... ie random speed/flickering when switched on? (sorry for the slight post hijack....!)

No, thats more likely to be a bad earth or poor connection in indicator circuit.

cheers bad earths was my other option so maybe i'll do that first!

I just spoke to my mechanic, basically they don't like to mess with the electrics by hard wiring, etc., as this infringes with safety standards to which they have to adhere. He did say though, that the part number (251919059K) is the part I need, apparently this part was used from 1980 to 1992, it's the one for my vehicle with main horizontal plug. My van is a 1989, 2 litre petrol, automatic, with rev counter - DG K chassis.

Anyway, this part is listed on http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/vw/T2/1991/78/57/892064/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - you'll have to register before you can actually see it. I can't actually figure out how to buy the part from that website yet and there are no contact points(!), so I've left a posting to see if anyone could help. Any of you guys know if that part will work an how/where I could get hold of it?

Would it also be useful at looking in various vw spare part avenues? - starting with the for sale section on this site - moving round the various vw parts sellers on this and other sites - ebay - breakers yards (a national online breakers yard scheme may have this item) - vw emporium? - etc etc -

Regards a replacement membrane PCB. I would establish exactly what the problem with the current PCB is first and then look for a solution or replacement.

check your earth crowns first and then check the flexible pcb, I think that second hand pcbs are expensive. do you really trust your mechanic? as you said it is electrical not mechanical. Has he checked the resistance on every track? I bought a new set of clocks because I thought my circuit board was knackered it turned out to be an incorrect sensor I was checking.

from the links about hard wiring there is still an option that is not hard wired eg wired up to a new plug

I've had 3 mechanics look at this now, and they all said I need to replace the PCB. One of them said I should replace the whole assembly (I guess he meant the rev counter, speedo and warning lights). One of them does a lot of work on VWs and managed to get the buzzer to go off for a about 100 miles, he said that the PCB is corroded and deteriorated at the back. They cleaned it, but obviously it doesn't last long. What about this part though (251919059K) which is listed on http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/vw/T2/1991/78/57/892064/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ??

I'm happy to pay for it, if I can find it.

one avenue - there is always a moderater on site - who can be pm'd - go to home page - moderator - and send em a message re purchasing an item - see what they say - and share w the rest of us -
i've only ever used the site to look at the different components of something i've been working on - never actually brought anything off there -
