Mystery for the T25 Holmes amongst you

Hi all,
My 1.6 Td has been smoking ever since I bought it. This was eased by having most of the engine overhauled last summer. It still smoked s little when cold, accelerating, when doing say 60mph and going up hill after I had it back and was told the turbo was leaking and this was the cause. So I have been shoveling in Tesco own brand mineral oil and going easy when building up speed. This way I was going through maybe 2 litre's of oil a month and always ran it a little low.
Any way, today I was off to pick up a new bad which involved 30 motorway miles. I checked the oil and it was below minimum. So i purchased a litre of oil when I fueled up and dropped it in on the forecourt. After about 20 miles of smoking (cars hanging back or racing passed me as usual) and a short stint doing 70 on slight incline, I pulled off the motorway and while I was stopped at lights my truck was chucking the smoke out (thinking to myself something was badly wrong). Anyway had to carry on as although it was smoking it was driving and pulling lovely - so I drive around the round about and off up the A470 expecting to see clouds of smoke in my rear view mirrors but there was none, evan when accelerating up to 60 on an incline there was no sign of the clouds I normally leave behind me. Then on my way back and still bewildered at the lack of smoke there appeared one largish cloud of grey/blue/whitish smoke (that really worried me ) and then it went back to being smokeless evan doing 65.
Anyone have any ideas on this? I thought it may been the shell oil being a better quality oil than the usual stuff I put it but am not sure (maybe it's a little thicker and won't leak through the turbo so much?
