I'm thinking of getting some made locally (from steel) - anyone interested in a set?

should be cheaper if made in aluminium. Easier and quicker to machine.

I agree, aluminium would be better but am up for a set for sure!

Already at the machine shop, should be finished tomorrow, as well as the final fettle on the front coil over lower spring seat and the jig for marking TDI timing marks on their flywheels.
Hoping to have some things to show at the open day, engineer leaving it a bit late I know but he does have other things to do like build mega buck plastic injection moulding moulds!

Also looking into getting thermostat housings made, simplified a little for easy of manufacture, and to keep costs down.
I know what will happen though, Classic parts will start making them again, and we'll have spent a "pooh" load on machine tools, design time etc.
While the syncro ones fit 2WD we'll carry on with making do I think.

always one step ahead! not a bad thing though, making the things that we want. when will they be for sale and at what cost?

Just having my dinner, will go across the yard in a bit and see where we are up to.
Just knocking a set up out of steel to test first, probably on Stans Westy I think, if all is good then I'll buy some ally in and get him to make some up.
Need to make one and make sure it fits and works and get the design right before we can quote, need to know how long they take to make etc..

I sold CNC Machining Centres / Lathes for 14 years along with all the tooling and I still get a buzz out of watching them work!

Photo of steel prototype currently uploading to Brickwerks facebook page.
Seriously, how many are interested in these?
No messers, real numbers, if you are serious please reply, if not please keep your fingers away from the keyboard!
They will come with the Coilover kit as well as some 30mm rear spacers, it makes it nice and neat to make the spring seats, the spacers and the ball joint spacers in one go from one block, and it makes it cheaper for me, but there is room on a sheet to get a few ball joint spacers in also.
Finished ones will be in aluminium.
