went for an MOT this morning and all was good she passed. the question i have is about the emishions and what i can learn from them.
CO limit is 3.5% the reading is 0.47% PASS
HC limit is 1200ppm the reading is 184 ppm PASS

could some one explain what these readings mean

thanks neil

Your CO looks to low to me and if your not carefull could end up burning a valve out...running too weak, needs readjusting to 1.5-2.0%.
HC's look OK.

please note this is an MV engine originally with cat, with lambda, 0.7 % +/- 0.4% is what the ecu is trying to run the engine at, the higher level quoted in mot is the DJ limit
it is within spec , on the lean end of, suggests the lambda is working well and shouldn't be an issue, that's what mine runs, or was last time, I'll find out tommorrow
if you disconnect the lambda you'll find it'll be set about 1.5-2.0% as Ian suggests

Earnie, ........ . . .
God's words....... . . . Vehicles which run on more than fuel (eg petrol and LPG) should be tested on the fuel they are running on when presented.
There is a slight difficulty with LPG vehicles: the hydrocarbons are propane rather than hexane. So the HC reading obtained must be divided by the propane/hexane equivalency factor (PEF) marked on the gas analyser. :ok

Sorry Aidan...my 1.5-2.0% Is more for the early carb stuff not engines running injection and cats...

Hi, here we have mine..

Co level 0.07%
HC level 85 ppm

shows how "green" LPG is!!

(interestingly, the header says fuel type unleaded, engine size 1915!)

I was sure that I had informed DVLA of the engine chabge, but looks like I may have forgotten

Em
x
E D I T: umm tetleysids comments above....don't think they have done that division thing!

Em, don't think the engine fuel type has been changed as you are now duel fuel but primarily a petrol engine

Running a bit rich, Hc could be better but not too bad

I have new plugs, filters etc. How do I reduce these levels. It doesn't tick over when cold and does smell a little.
