finally going to get round to doing my first self service on the van this weekend. Is there any reason why I shouldnt use Wynn's engine flush on my 2lt air cooled?

seem to be reading a lot of conflicting views. my engine burns a bit of oil and the oil is always quite a dark colour. on the one hand a flush could help clean up the engine a little, on the other it could loosed some protective filthTM and potentially give me more problems/ make it leak more oil. hmmm might just leave it alone. Any other Aircooled flushers out there?!

Yep... Flush it!
Any bits that are loosened during the flush will get taken out by the filter and squashed to oblivion by the oil pump anyway!
I would much sooner flush and get rid of all the deposits than have them building up and possibly partly blocking oilways, hydraulic tappets and oil coolers!

nope dont flush, it can cause all sorts of trouble dislodging crap everywhere.
just get it good and hot and drain.
i flushed mine as i had a sticky tappet after flushing it went but started on the other bank straight away.
leave well alone just change the oil regualr

I'd never use an engine flush.. use a branded mineral oil and change it regular..
Over 200k miles in my caravelle over the last 10 years and not an oil related problem... not to mention all the other vehicles I have owned and done hundreds of thousands of miles... Just my opinion though..

Yep, think i'll leave well alone - no major problems so best not to mess about with it I guess. will prob change the oil again after 50 miles or so to properly clean it out
