My 1.9 has suffered a persistent rough idle, a stutter on acceleration, and a persistent mis-fire for the last few months.

After checking the usual suspects of fuel filters, plugs, leads rotor arm, dizzy cap etc. with no joy, I found that the servo hose, despite looking fine, had gone porous under the fibre outer.

After a quick fix with a section of washing machine inlet hose the engines like new.

Might upgrade to proper servo hose as the washing machine hose is a bit soft, but can recommend this to anyone suffering poor running!

Word of warning though, the old hose had steel reinforcement in it, which made a rather large hole in my finger when I grabbed hold of it and twisted....

common issue this, keep flagging it up, causes high hc on mot with correct co, but mot fail, and crap running often when extreme as you discovered

I mentioned washing machine inlet hose several months ago. It available in 'chilli hot red' and 'ice blue' ofcourse

Varies in quality though. Don't use really cheap stuff - some comes braided and you don't want the vacuum to suck the pipe flat or get so hot it collapses. Mine is still working great many months later.

Can concur on braid in old hose - very sharp.

I've got the 'chilli-red' but its cheap and keeps sucking flat! Curses to Wickes and their cheap hose!

Got some proper reinfocred servor hose now though - the length I was sent is enormous, so if anyone wants a bit PM me and I'll pop it in the post!

My 1.9 dg is also running rough. Just thought thats how they all were???!!!!?!. But please tell me where is this pipe. Mine has a LPG conversion on it so theres a lot of braided hose on it. Has anyone a piccy of this pipe please.

Whats the diameter of the hose? Is the 10mm JK servo hose the right stuff?

It is, but you get 1.5m of the stuff, when you only want a little bit! I've got a fair bit left, so PM your address and I'll stick a length in the post to you.

Cheers mate, but unfortunately your a bit late - I bought some a couple of weeks ago and haven't got round to trying it yet

Any of that hose left at all? I'm in South London too, could swap for some beers!

Exactly right. Some types are braided and hold up well. Mine has and been on nearly a year now. Cheaper versions are just plastic and no way of knowing really unless you cut into them. A rough and ready way might be to bite the hose between your teeth and see if its easy to collapse.

I could have ordered the proper stuff but as it was a Sunday I had to improvise and as it turned out, it did the job fine.
