Should it stay or should it go?

Bought a cheapo T25 before Christmas with the intention of turning it into a budget but comfortable camper for the summer.

Meachanically it stops and goes ok, engine is a bit lumpy and backfires but shoudl be able to sort that. Transmission seems fine too. There is a snapped drop link to replace but again I don't see that as being the end of the world.

It is a high top with zero interior, but I am confident I can sort the inside out no problem.

Main problem is rust, now there isnt tons of it but there are a few bits to sort. It needs a couple of new inner sills, new rear tailgate, front passenger wheel arch, rear passenger wheel arch and then the little panel behind the arch. The seams are a little rusty in places but not too bad.

Plan is to coach paint it myself to reasonable standard.

I'm getting a little twitchy now that it could be a bottomless pit and maybe I should get rid and spend more on a better one, or should I stick with the project?

Any thoughts? Would be happy for any local experts to take a look and offer advice over a beer!

if your into the idea of doing the work then yes it will be a bottomless pit - projects like this regardless of whether its a camper or a small plane mean it's a money pit

If your looking at replacing inner sills then be aware it's a bigger job than you may think! see link to the work I did on my bus to replace both inner sills and both outer sills....

There is much satisfaction in sorting out a bus yourself as long as you pace yourself and remember that it WILL take longer than you initially plan (often a LOT longer!) **E D I T** and invariably will cost more than you initially plan too!!

If you sell it and go for something that is done then you will be looking circa 4K upwards for something sorted...

Bear in mind lastly too that unless your looking at 7k+ then any bus you get will have rust/small niggles/other faults as it's due to age and use!

Chuck some pics up on here for us all to have a looksy at - use photobucket then link your photos to this thread

Doug

Wolverhampton, nuff said!

Cheers, I've dropped the guy a message.

The van has lots of promise but I may not have the time/skills to fulfill that!

I live by the Rover's ground but the van lives a couple of miles away at the old dears house (more space!)....
