a neibour has just bought what looks loke a bargain t25, it has komet written down the side and the top is in need of repair does anyone know what type of top it is? it has the main roof bonded to the original roof with a luggage rack at the front, towards the rear it is like a black oblong that elevates. are spares avalable for this roof?

Get the camera out

I thought Komet was an Autohomes high top, perhaps it started out as a high top and has been changed to a pop top ?

yup! leaky and rotten. i am sure i have seen these tops for sale new somewhere but cannot remember the name. the van looks all original, the interior is great, the paintwork is all original but lots of rust scabs. a bit of welding to do. a blown turbo on the 1600 motor needs sorting. if you took it to a garage to sort it it would cost a fortune but clive is keen to have a go himself. i will try to get some pics for id. thanks for help guys

Sounds like an Autohomes, the roof is usually on the Kamper not the komet. Do a search for Autohomes Kamper and you will find loads of info and pictures of offending roof.

Theres a company in Dorset who do alot of Autohomes stuff including new roofs and spare parts. They are fairly helpful I had them replace the locking clasps. They also do loads of repairs. I think they charge about 1400 - 1600 ish for a new roof to be put on... Just found the receipt. Autovan Services Ltd, 32 Canford Bottom, Wimborne, Dorset BH21 2HD. 01202 848414.
