CU engine timing

OK i have had a look at the wiki for timing information for my CU engine but its quite confusing. With some info taken from the wiki and from other websites I have come to the following conclusings

- Engine speed: 850 RPM ± 50 RPM
- Vacuum hoses: connected
- Timing: 5˚ ATDC
- Engine idle speed stabilizer unit: Disconnected and leads connected together.

However I have also seen a lot of info regarding taking off the vacumes from the dizzy. Would I have to do them both? and if so what would be the timing if they where removed.

This is related to my engine overheating as I have read if the timing is too far advanced then it will generate to much heat.

Cheers

5 deg ± 1 deg @ TDC with vacuum

but....has yours got DIS?

When setting ignition timing with DIS (digital idle stabilisation) the two connectors of the DIS unit must be plugged together.
Disconnect crankcase breather and plug on side of air cleaner too.

and that's it
