I'm new to this place- and a convert from bays to T25's.

got my first one last week, and my heating doesn't work- is this a common issue? What are the first things to check? I've got a 1.6 diesel (1983) RHD

hope someone can help! cheers!

Hello beewren, take off the cover in the centre of the lower dash then move the hot / cold lever back and forth on the control panel make sure that the whole cable isn't moving as mine was last month , i was all ready to strip out and change the thermostat before whippin the centre panel off and discoverin that it was a loose cable outer

no it's not common on T25's... bays maybe :D
first things first, there's two tanks in the engine bay, make sure the one with the cap with a pipe from it is right up to the brim
as said check the levers do the thing they are supposed to.
if they do ..bleed it, there's a bleed screw on the rad (top left )

it's probably the valve not opening by the lever.. the actual valve is under the spare

Mines above the spare! Have your pipes been re-routed?

Reminds me of a bloke at work that used to get his thoughts in a mucking fuddle - he once came into work with mud on the back of his raincoat so I asked him what he had been doing- his reply was that he had been lying under his car sheltering the engine from the rain!
You're not related are you?

One thing that caught me out on my first drive is that the vents on the dash that blow in your face are fresh air only (at least on my van - could be an early model thing). Heat only comes out of the window, foot and rear vents.
