Help - weights....

Hi,

I hope I have not made a huge boo-boo with regards to weights....

Basically i have got myself a VW camper and the weight plates on the driving side say:

Gross Vehicle Weight 2460kg
Gross combind weight 3960kg
Axle 1 1200 kg
Axle 2 1300 kg

I passed my test in 1998, so am limited to a vehicle (or vehicle combination) of 3500kg.

Which of the top 2 weights applies to the camper vehicle only??

I presume set of numbers 2 is if I am towing- means the total train weight cannot exceed 3960??

Please help clear this up for me

Thanks
Mike

Gross Vehicle weight is the one you need to be under the 3500 kg figure. The DVLA in their wisdom now refer to Maximum Authorised Mass, but it's the same as the GVW, so basically, you're fine

:ok

There's a bit on here which sort of explains it....http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Dr ... DG_4022708

gross combined weight includes a (theoretical) trailer of max 1500 kg that VW allow you to tow.
No trailer ...no problems
