Ok the 1.9 engine dropped all its water out this morning on my way to work.
My dad is gonna have a look tomorow as he is away today but i wondered if there was any way of asking how bad this is now?
I just went out to top up the expansion tank and its defo coming out under the engine quiet badly sorry to be so vauge but like i said just wondered what the worst case sernario might be????

Where-abouts 'Underneath' ? front back left right ? Best case scenario it's a hose that's gone, worst case it's a waterjacket.

The usual suspects are the long plastic pipes with the rusty mild steel ( ) inserts that grow and split the plastic, the metal pipe from the pump to the thermostat housing hose ... this rots out along the bottom, the thermostat housing with the expanding mild steel bolt guides that rust and crack the housing and the 'S' shaped hose that connects the drivers side head to the plastic bulkhead fitting ... this gets twisted as the engine moves and the bulkhead doesn't.

as you look at the engine facing the van its leaking from the left hand side middle-its pouring out though will try and have a more in depth look in a bit

Undo the cap thats on the header tank in the engine bay (not the one behind the number plate the other one. Pull the small pipe off the side of it too. Now were the little pipe goes into the cap if you can blow and suck through that its shagged and you will need a new one and this can spit abit of water out sometimes if its knackered. Or have a look at the tank that the cap screws to near the threaded bit, they can split their sometimes. If its the front to back water hoses that have gone i have a set here if your fellas in the big van are passing.

Left hand middle sounds like the metal pipe to the t/stat housing ... £60+ from GSF or Brickwerks ...

The bottom rots out and the also go where the hose take-off is just before the main thermostat housing hose.

thanks Jed, its not the expansion tank thats the problem its passing water under the engine.
i cant look at it now but will bare in mind that you have some parts if needed thanks very much

As said the van is outside in a big puddle of water and i cant get it into our store as there is a container there so unless it stops raining b4 5 oclock theres not much i can do in the way of tracing the leak.
I will be back here tomorrow morning to see if my dad and brother can help me trace it

I had the water temp switch "blow'' out of its housing and lost water,the metal retaining clip that holds the switch into the housing dissapeared,do not know if it was rusted through or not got a replacement switch from gsf for a tenner it had a platic clip refitted no more problems

ok to give an update it was leaking from the water jacket
So engine is out and in bits, having a gud going over and replacing bits needed as going along-including new exhaust pipes.
engine came out without braking any studs thank god.
Hopefully should be put back togther saturday if things go to plan all fingers toes and paws crossed eh?
