ok i think i've got a sticky valve on no. 1 (i think) only does it now and again but when it does frell do i know about it .. sounds like an old BSA ..boomboomboom... just had a nice run to and from Norfolk without a hitch.. jump in last night to get home from work and boomboomboom.. this morning it did it again for a few minutes , so the question is is there anything quick and easy that i can do like add something to the oil or petrol or is it a head of jobbie

cheers

Had the same problem on 2ltr Aircooled not so long back. Cured problem with a bottle of valve lube from local motor discount shop.

Two options here.. 1 add to petrol. Or my preferred option, warm up engine, remove all spark plugs and add approx 50ml into each plug hole, sit back with a cuppa for 20 mins. Then cover each plug hole with a clean dry cloth and turn her over (the engine that is) for about 10 seconds. replace all plugs, start her up and watch the smoke. Cleared the problem on mine.

Over reving is the normal cause.
