Hi,

I need new tank straps and I need them before Baxter has his ready. Is Syncro Services at €120 cheapest?

I need to repair/replace the coolant pipes as the metal inserts are on their way out. GoWesty do a repair kit for plastic pipes http://www.gowesty.com/library_article.php?id=113- has anyone tried it? JK and Gunzl do SS replacement pipes but they're ~£200. Has anyone fitted those and are they any good. I'd prefer to do the GoWesty repair as its 1/4 of the JK price.

Yup Syncro Services are about the cheapest for the Stainless straps.

The GoWesty things... make sure they are for a diesel. jebiga41 had an issue with the ones he had

but they are probably dearer if you take postage into account.

i have the jk ss ones on my van.and they are very good quality.i have read the repair kits can be a bit of a nightmare.as getting them into the end of the pipe and not leaking is almost impossible.i intend keeping my van for a very long time.so the £200 was well spent imo.

SS ones are fine, JK's appear to be bought in from ze Germans.

they fit diesel only fitted one (if its not broken don't fix it) but may have a slight leak not sure but seem to be ok going to go over it again when weathers betterbut thiink it may be something else. Easy to fit tho but would use some flange sealant to make sure next time however postage and import tax mean quite expensive would probably go for the jk ones if i was you, altho heard ss may have an electrolitic effect on the coolant and therefore possible engine probs further down the line anyone else looked at this possibility

All I can say to that is that there are plenty of vans happily running around with stainless pipes on without any issues, if it kills a wasserboxer then ho hum, just another excuse to put it out of it's misery and into the canal with it's bretheren.

Sorted. Straps coming from Syncro Services and SS coolant pipes coming from JK.

If you are using the VW GE11 coolant additive, you shouldnt have any issues there ...... other than cost!
