Clutch biteing point.........

following a slave and master cylinder change the biteing point is a lot higher than it was,have bleed it several times but no different,don't think there are any adjustments any suggestions chaps.....1983 2 litre A/C.........thanks in advance.....Nick.

There is an adjuster above the master cylinder... Good luck with that though unless you have rubber fingers and flexible arms! :D

As long as there is sufficient FREE PLAY and the clutch is fully engaging then it won't be a problem....it needs that bit of free play in the mechanism to work correctly.

yep mines in the last third.
It changed when I replaced the clutch and slave too

Just to add... If you want to check free play it should be 0.5mm on a hydraulic system.

Mine bites on the last 2mm. If a small rodent sat onthe pedal it would disengage. :lol:

Incidentally, I found (over some 25 odd years) that if you don't know a vehicle, replace whole clutch if its worn - next time friction plate - next time whole clutch and so on. Always worked for me and saves a few quid.

Same here after I just changed the slave cylinder.

btw, bleeding it (if it has/had air in it) WILL bring the biting point higher :)

As long (as has been said above) as you have a bit of free play at the top, all is OK

It just takes a day or so to get used to the new biting point.
