Can ayone help were to start on this problem, its a fhooking pain in the a***. The front side light wont go out neither will the LH side rear lights. When i put the indicator on to turn right the lights on the other side come on too  Oh and the LH side indicators dont flash when i pop the hazards on. Its a Diesel if that makes a difference. Oh I changed the indicator and wiper stalks so its not them. I am guessing its some sort of earthing problem. Oh and when i turn the ignition on the turn off ok :?

I thought this was the way VW arranged the parking lights on a t25. If the ignition is off and you put the indicator stalk to the left, the left hand side and rear light come on. Put it to the right and the right hand ones come on. Mine does it too.............dunno if it disables the hazard light function though. Do the hazards work with the stalk in the centre position and ignition off?

Only the Left hand lights stay on when its in the middle/off position. Actually thinking about it we have just spent a week away in it and it was well cold, chances are the earth crowns will have furred up like Mark suggests because there was loads of condensation. Thanks fellas i will just charge the battery up so i can start it and turn it around so i can sand paper the crown :ok

Are there anymore earthing points to look for?

Jed check that there is no damp at the back of the fuse box or around the relays, give all that area a spray with WD40 or similar to displace any condensation :idea

If your lights are staying on then it's not an earthing problem. The earth doesn't supply power.
Take out fuses for lights and see what happens. If they go off then you know it's a fault on the lighting circuit. If they don't go off then you have power coming from another circuit into the lights and you will need to take out more fuses to find which one is powering your lights. If this is the case, you will need to trace the wiring to find the fault (nice!). :D
If pulling out the lighting fuse turns them off then I would suspect either the light switch (again!) or wiring to and from the switch to be faulty.
Have a nose, see what you find..

They stay on when the ignition is off, if i turn the key so the ignition is on they go off :? when i take the nunmber 7 fuse out for the side lights they go off. I will go and take some fuses out to see what happens.

Funny you should say that Jimbo, just got in from having a closer look and chased the wiring from that switch. Found a connection of twisted wire and tape (usually my favorite as you know ) anyway i undid it and now it seems to turn off. So i will connect them back properly fingers crossed.

Dodgey alarm connection? Dodgey towbar wiring with scotch locks? (usual favorite)
What was it Jed?
