Right thats it ive made my mind up i need a bloody syncro
as jed and all the guys who did the salisbury expo know that chitterne is in a valley on the back of salisbury plain
and is now and has been for three days under a foot of snow and forecast for more this weekend
my daily drivers cant handle this weather so later on this year im going to see busman to sort me out a tin top syncro before next winter
(thats my excuse to the otherhalf and its worked)

Lance your going through what i went through a few years back, just get one or you wont settle till you do.

yeah its a deffo ,fed up with t4s,2wd t3s and you know its been my plan all along to do a westy syncro (and keep it)ha ha

yaah is it catching?ive wasted thousands on t3s might as well spend it on something i can use on these greenlanes(whitelanes)

If you have a decent budget you can get some really good ones.....

go for it lance. been using mine as a daily in the bad weather and i`m much happier than driving the t4.

You know you want to, you'll never look back. Busmans is very dangerous site after i found it and watched a few vids that was it I had to get one. Just make sure its got the M Code, VISA on the white sticker when your buying one, thats the optional credit card slot but is usually standard on syncros

i dont want to do serious off roading just a little local greenlane'in and 20 miles daily
why have they got a reputation for being bottomless money pits? if not abused they should be alright????

I use mine daily and smile all the way. It's cost me £1600 in the past 6 months on getting niggles sorted and needs new tyres soonish.

Busman, you tube, my friend owning two and another friend wanting one drove me to syncros ... that and getting stuck in mud trying to get out of a festival for 12 hours in a car (and having to bung the tractor driver £20 to pull us out).

Hence = bottomless money pit.....mine cost me £1800 (RHD Panel Van) last year, spent about £800 on parts and a cheap set of tyres so far, saving up for a gearbox rebuild (£800+)

They are good though, just something about it that brings a smile to my face.......I'd only spend the money on booze and fags or somthing else anyway.

Mine cost me €5k to buy + gearbox and front diff rebuild + 2" lift and new shocks + Alloys and Tyres + Mefros and BFG MT + SA brake kit + new rear brakes + respray + stuff + more stuff + a good few hundred spent with the Baxter lad + bits and pieces + ....

Money pit? Nah dont mind them ......

Spent about 10k so far in total counting the van's purchase still got to go for gearbox rebuilds and some shocks and finish off the interior and put in my other engine. On the other side I now know a lot about it as have taken most bits off and replaced them or had a look at them and its taken me to croatia and back, and to places I would have never been able to go to, a new landy is a lot more and you can't camp in it. In fact it constantly amazes me how versatile a syncro is, don't think of it as a money pit more of an investment
