Neat, apart from TK's rather dumb comments.

Thats a great solution. All I can say is that I did it the hard way, whole dash out. I lubed the bearings and its still going 3 years later and it was stuck solid. Dash out (probably a day) or drill an access hole (ten minutes)- easy decision. Well spotted!

Well.....it would seem that you get access to the bearing that causes the most trouble and many report long term sucess with this method. However, it is true that you don't gain access to both sides of the fan armature so a fix for most but not all....definately worth remembering tho.

Thats brilliant. I need to try it. I've lived with a squeeky fan for years.

I wonder what can of spray to use though - i've not heard of any that they recommend...

Some seem to think it's a good idea, others not so convinced. My fan's totally seized so I think it's a dash out job for me but I think I'll wait till the weather warms up a bit.

I started taking my dash out yesterday. And gave up when it got dark, but i'll start again in the morning when i get back in from work. My fan motor is stuck solid, and i've got a replacement to put in. But as a temporary fix for a squeaky bearing, it seems to be a good idea to me. But then i like making like a dood with a drill
