HI ALL IN SYNCRO LAND I HAVE A LOVELY SYNCRO I HAVE OWNED HER FOR 7 YEARS AND HAVE A NEW PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE 2.1 IT WILL NOT TICK OVER AND RUNS ALL OR NUTHING THEN FROM TIME TO TIME BLOWS LOTS OF WHITE SMOKE FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN RUNS CLEEN I THINK THE IDLE CONTROL VALVE MAY BE US BUT THIS WILL NOT ACOUNT FOR THE WHITE SMOKE ANY ONE GOT ANY IDEA PERHAPS HEAD GASKET BUT SHE USES NO OIL OR WATER BUT WHEN COLD STEEMS FROM SILENCER ???? I DO HAVE A 19PD ENGINE TO FIT BUT LIKE THE PETROL SO WISH TO PUT IT RIGHT THANKS ADAM

HAVE A NEW PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE 2.1

Hi all in Syncro land,
I have a lovely Syncro. I have owned her for 7 years and have a new problem wi9th the engine, a 2.1 It will not tick-over and runs all or nothing, then from time to time blows lots of white smoke for a few seconds then runs clean. I think the odle control valve may be u/s but this will not account for the white smoke.
Has anyone any idea? Perhaps a head gasket but she uses no oil or water but when cold steams from silencer? I do have a 19PD engine to fit ut like the petrol so wish to put it right.

Adam, copy and post this (above, not your ALL CAPS) into a new post in Tech Q & A forum, where you will garner many times the likely replies within Syncro forum, here. The engine itself is barely different from the 2WD 2.1 DJs, so if it's a running problem, that would get a lot mopre attention

White smoke may be that you have simply overfilled with oil.

These symptoms all point to ECU temp sender fault.
