Front Diff-Lock Installation? Worth it?

Ay up,
I've currently got all the front end stripped down (suspension, sub-frame, drive shafts, front box). I'm currently doing some restoration and I was wondering....

Is it worth modifying the front box to take a diff-locker while it's off? (I have access to a machine shop so that bit is taken care of).

What needs to be modified to the internals of the box to lock the diff? Has anyone done this themselves and got any useful pics?

Cheerz

As for "is it worth having":

I've got a front difflock ...but for various reasons I only ever do mild off-roading and the only reason why I have used the front difflock is because it's there and needs to be excercised so it doesn't stick.

In other words, unless you want to do serious, chassis bending off-roading you could save yourself the expense.

Yes, these were my thoughts. I have some mates who are in to their Landies and I'd hate to let the Syncro side down at the first bit of serious terrain.
At this stage I'm just considering making the necessary mods to the front box so that I could 'easily' install the rest of the bits if I chose to have the full front diff-lock setup at a later date. :?

I Would imagine it would be far more cost effective to sell your complete diff and fit a complete locking diff. I had my locker apart a few weeks ago and it all looks very expensive inside! I can't imagine you could buy all the parts you need for less than the cost of a good secondhand unit. Also, you have to factor in the cost of rime, too!
