'led' test lamp for DJ injectors???

I have need of one of these but would like to know what it is precisely as I`m sure a similar tool could be made with the right information
Has anyone had or used one of these?
It is used in such a way that it should flash when connected between the multi-plug terminals as the engine is cranked
Thanks in anticipation

Yes I think such a device would work. When I had my very strange ECU fault I dragged my somewhat dated and very large four trace oscilocsope out to the road side so I could see what the injectors were getting but can't remember what the pulse width was. I seem to remember a filament lamp being mentioned somewhere. While a filament lamp would seem too slow in (thermal) response to see the pulse it is very posible that an LED could. It very certainly could if a simple active component trigger circuit was added. I am sure some Tefal headed electronic wiz kid could dream one up though. Any offers?
Cheers

Got the scope info but no scope.... 10v/2ms

Yes like Simon says you want a Noid light, which actually uses a filament bulb. They come in sets with different types of pins to fit different injector plugs or Lucas made a universal one which fitted the majority of plugs. LED's aren't much good for checking injectors as they don't load the ECU's injector driver, which if faulty can flash a low powered led but not switch an injector. Osilloscopes are the best means of checking injectors but a simple multimeter with dwell can also be used. With the injector still connected probe into the injector switching wire and the meter set on 4 cylinder dwell. With a warm engine you should get roughly 2.5-3 deg at idle rising to around 8 deg when revved and double that when the throttle is snapped open.
My universal Lucas Noid Light

I like the look of that noid lamp.

Thanks for the info folks, used a led loaded with a resistor that my brother made up ad hoc ,that seemed to do the trick....
Will take pic and post for wiki and hopefully all this info could be put up too.....
Have a good new year
