Battery warning light + rear wash wipe

Couple of questions that I'd be grateful of a response on -

1, The battery warning light on my 89 california 1.6 TD keeps flickering on but the engine starts from cold? Any ideas? Is it a dodgy alternator or?

2, What size are the two top bolts that fix the rear wash wipe motor to the tailgate? They bolt through to a nut thats welded to the motor. I'm wondering if they are still available from VW or are they pretty standard (whatever that is)?

All advice/help is much appreciated.

1. Might be the alternator voltage regulator or a duff connection. A regulator is a bit under £20 IIRC and even if it's not that, it's not a bad spare to carry anyway.

2. M6x12 (I think) Part 18 here http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/vw/T2/1989/78/57/893262/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; although you won't be able to see tha link until you've registered on the site for access to the Catalogue here http://www.vagcat.com/index.php?act=Reg&CODE=00" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks 1664 - much appreciated - looks like I'll change the regulator and go from there. As to the bolts - I'll call my local VW dealers and see if they have them or can get them.

Once again many thanks
