upholster and new foam

Hello,

As part of my winter overhaul I am having the front seats, rock and roll bed and rear cushion newly upholstered. At the same time I will also have new foam fitted. As for the foam there are bewildering different types. I know decent foam is not cheap, so I am prepared to spend a few quid on the right foam as it should last another 20 plus yrs. What foam would people recommend or have used?

As for the upholstery, I currently have a non original Westy Joker interior that was put in by the last owner. The fronts seats are thread bare and I have swapped the rears for knackered stuff. Its the early brown interior...

I am thinking of using vinyl bit like this

Has anyone got vinyl seats? Are they very cold, do they wear well. Do you think i would be better sticking with material?

Ideas and thoughts please :ok

Hi Joe you should get 4inch fire retardent foam and if you put on suade or velvet you will need to wrap the foam in dacron. The dacron also helps to keep some heat in the bed and also gives you a bit more comfort

Hi Joe,
Who are you using to do the upholstery? I'm thinking of doing the same in my van and could use some pointers.
Cheers

Looks very nice. My drivers seat has seen better days - do you know if they are able to replace the foam in the seats as they upholster them?
