hot brakes

4 on board, 2 bikes 1.6 TD doing the Milton keynes
roundabouts when after some stopping from the A5 to a
roundabout, I smelt a strong sulphurous smell which I think was
my brakes getting hot. I stopped shortly after and I felt sure the
right front was hotter than the left with more brake dust on rims.
The smell was more right front too. Is this a calliper problem on
the left or a balance problem? What course of action is best?

Has your van been stood for a while? We had this a couple of months ago with ours. i htink the brake has seized due to it not being used so much. We actually had smoke coming from ours and I was really worried as the petrol tanks its above it!

The AA man came and said brakes had seized. he let it off a bit, and touch wood it has been fine since.

It is used every day and was on return from holiday where we drove every day. I dont feel the van pulling but Im sure there is more brake dust on the drivers side. Perhaps I should get it on a MOT brake tester and look at the readings. I dont want to be told I need a new caliper or something pricey when the problem lies else where but i dont know how to find the faults.
