Coolant query

Hi, slowly working through various 'minor' jobs! When changing my temp sender I got a good soaking in slightly gree/dishwater coloured coolant. This was a bit of a surprise since I've topped up with at least 4 litres of purple over last 9 months. Any suggestions as to why it not fully mixed at this point?
Cheers
Nick

I don't want to be the one to tell you this but the two different types shouldn't be mixed. Can't remember why but I just spent a whole day flushing out a cooling system on a vehicle today to get rid of the old coolant before sticking in the red stuff!

Cheers. Oh b*gger, I don't know how I missed that. I read the bit about compatibility but also the bit where the Wiki says that G12+ is compatible with earlier VW coolants! Looks like yet another fun job for Chrissie! I was hoping I wouldnt have to think of a way of flushing the system with no access to mains hose!
Thanks again
Nick

As he says.......but also 4 litres represents less that 25% of the total volume capacity and as you are also loosing it? as well wouldn't really have much impact on the overall colour.
Drain THEN FLUSH! until clean clear water is flowing, then add 8 litres of long life antifreeze (G12+ or equivelent)

Thanks Red Westie. Point taken about colour. My main problem is that I'm going to have trouble finding enough pressure to flush!

Just pull 2-3 easily accessible hoses off from various points on the engine and push the end of your hose pipe in there....undoo bleed points to allow coolant to flush from several places, move the hose around to a different position and flush again.
