hi guys, ive got me CL in on the two front doors now want it on the slider, has any1 done this thereselves, the mechanism looks a little more complicated there and i can see the only way of doin it is to take the mechanism out drill/tap somewhere on pin which controls the latch button and connect solenoid that way?

just picking ya brains, any better ideas are more than welcome. thx

There is a slightly different locking mechinisim on vans equiped with CL as standard.
The locking motor goes horizontaly.
Put a ad in the wanted forum.
As you have probably realised you will need to use a sprung contact block to get power to the door.

I have a generic CL system and on the sliding door the actuator rod is piggy backed onto the normal door opening rod.

Its also possible, if you take the lock out, to watch how the lock moves, and drill a small hole in the right place to attach to. :D

thanks for the info, it makes sense for models with CL as standard to have a different setup as the lock mechanism is very tricky to attach to as is.

yup seems thats the route ill be goin then, i can feel the piece that i needs to attach to, so il drill/tap a hole into it and run my own rod to a suitable place where the solenoid will be placed and make it easily accessible when i need to get at em in the future...

Essentially all that happens is that the sliding door gets power when its shut at the point the door butts to - ie B pillar. you feed it into the pillar by whatever route suits you best. No hard and fast way as contacts vary in size and type.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Van-Sliding-Door- ... 25577b21e0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

One part goes on door, the other on the pillar - again makes sense when you start work on it. Bit of drilling needed basically. Several makers for these contacts, can't recommend one but see which looks the most robust.

someone finding this useful right now..... :)

What central locking kit did you use?

A moron tried to break into the van, but only the driver's lock barell damaged. Although I would like to replace that, there seems little point in giving the moron another thing to damage. I'm thinking plug the original lock barrel, and fit remote central locking. Not sure about what happens if remote fails though.. in through the boot i guess!

the kit i used is thishttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0085451672

sthere are many available i would suggest picking a remote one to as a back up just in case, this one wires into my alarm, so arms and locks the doors.

i am toying with the idea of makin the van keyless entry, and only keeping the tailgate key in case it packs up, you could completely remove the locking mechanism from the front doors and rely on ya central locking so if they did bodge a big hole in ya door they would be there for ages tryin to hit the lock bar that aint connected.... i may well do this when i put me leccy windows in...

Did that kit come with 1 master solenoid and 3 slaves, or 2 master solenoids and 2 slaves?
Presumably using the key in the lock attached to only the master solenoid will activate the other solenoids?

1 master 3 slaves mate, whichever door you use the master will control the others with a key i.e. RHD/LHD.
