front diff pinion bearing

Has anyone replaced this bearing without the VW tools? if so what did you use/make.

no i just pulled the diff out of the other van. :oops:

saying that i`ve got the noisey diff sat in work so i`ll have to get around to doing it so the other van can go back together again. be interested to know what special tools are needed myself.

PC52, Diesel with the locker bit, Lee,part numbers for the tools 457/2,296,381/14,3132 and 3136!!.

What ratio is it, I've got a 5.43 locking one.

Note that 3136 tool is not available, I made one by welding a 30mm socket to the centre shaft of a VC.
If you remove the pinion you can send it over and I can fit a new bearing and send it back with a new lockring, you can use a chisel if required to undo the pinion lockring and a 1 ton bottle jack and suitable piece of steel section to get the pinion shaft out of the case, remember to remove speedo drive first including the stop pin :ok
